You know you desire it. But for some reasons, you just can't. Desserts are truly enticing just by looking at it. How much more tempting it can be if you sink your teeth into its soft, lush, dark cake? The downside of eating those lush desserts is that it would surely ruin your hard work at the gym. You then wonder, is there a way you can eat desserts without gaining pounds on the weighing scale?
No and yes.
There isn't a definite answer because what works for some may not be effective for others. Don't be baffled if a pal can eat a whole cake for dessert and not worry about his or her weight, but you can't even finish a half of tart without feeling the result on the weighing scale the next day. So for us who always need to check our weight but still crave for desserts, let's just try to make desserts a little healthier for us.
To start with, have a healthy meal. If you are expecting a sinfully sweet dessert later on, start with something healthy to cut your guilt. If you are going to have a fattening dessert, then cut down the calories on your meal.
If you are going to make your own dessert, then pile it up with healthy ingredients. Fill it with more healthy items like fruits over less nutritious ones like sugar. If you are purchasing the dessert, look for those with more healthy ingredients. Also, look for tags with "low fat," "low calorie," "no fat," etc. It's like taking sweets and deceiving calories at the same time.
Eat desserts in tiny portions. Those mini cakes you see in high-end bakeshops and restaurants are just the proper size. You don't need to supersize your dessert, a moderate size will be enough.
And lastly, try to consume sinful desserts during special occasions only. Think of it like this, you are just making a dessert more special by consuming them during special occasions. If you eat them everyday, as unlikely as this may seem, you might lose interest in them because they are not "off-limits" to you any longer. Eating the sweetest sweets during special days doesn't mean going passing over desserts altogether every meal. Sweet desserts can be fruits in parfait or yogurt. Still has the goodness of a dessert without the guilt feelings.
All good stories must have sweet endings, just like a perfect meal. You may have the heartiest meal ever or you just have had the blandest, but your experience will not be full without desserts.
