Deciding if a Nose Job is for You

By Rochard Wade

The nose is one of the most prominent features on our face. In fact it plays a big role in shaping our physical identity. The nose also plays a major role in our five senses as well. However, there are people who are unhappy with the size or shape of their nose. When someone considers fixing this problem one of the first things that pop into their head is a nose job. Is this procedure suitable for everyone who runs into nose trouble though?

A nose job is a cosmetic surgery used to improve the appearance of the nose. Rhinoplasty is another name for a 'nose job'. This plastic surgery of the nose is a popular procedure that is often used to balance out a person's facial features. A rhinoplasty surgeon is able to decrease or increase the size of the nose by altering the tip or even the bridge of the nose. The surgeon is also capable of changing and or narrowing the shape of the nostrils.

Deciding to have a cosmetic surgery done is a big choice one can make. Are the dimensions of your nose really affecting your mental well being? One has to consider how badly they want their nose altered, if they can live with the way their nose currently is and if they are willing to risk it to live with a new shaped nose. Also there are a few side effects that come with having a nose job done. Some which include soreness, pain and possible headaches. You doctor will advise you on what you can and cannot do after the surgery and probably provide you with a prescription for pain medicine if need be. You may not be able to participate in certain activities for a week either.

If it's a flat big nose that is keeping you from being as sociable as you'd like to be then it may be time to consider having a nose job done. Maybe your nose is very very long why you have the blues. Be sure to prepare yourself for the costs that it entails though. However, it seems that if a person really wants to conform the way he or she looks then they will be willing to do what is necessary to make it happen. If you feel as though it is worth the cost and you have the money available then the nose job surgery might just be for you.

There are those approaching cosmetic surgery who are more concerned about the physical appearance, but there are those who have the procedure done because of health reasons such as a deviated septum. If there is a procedure out that can correct your problem then there is no reason you should have to live with such deformity. One alternative to having a nose job that comes at a much less cost is a device called the Nose Huggie. Nose Huggies do just about the same thing but without all the incisions and other aspects of surgery. It is a small clip worn on the nose bridge that applies pressure to the nose cartilage. Realistically one cannot expect a smaller nose overnight like with a rhinoplasty, but with this "natural nose job" one may see results within a few weeks time after using it consistently. Choose the best method for you.
