Useful Long Distance Running Tricks

By Jordan Thomas

They say that running is one of the best things you can do for your body, and I'll fully attest to that statement. I find so many benefits that come with running, ranging from physical ones to mental ones.

I try my best to position myself in such a way that my body and mind are at the biggest possible advantage while I'm running. I like to call these tricks, and I'm now going to share a few of them with you.

A really big thing that people often overlook is the food and beverage intake that should occur prior to a run. Both of these things are critical, and finding the optimal levels will play a major role in your success.

The last situation you want to find yourself running in is one where you haven't had enough food or water. You're simply putting your body in danger when you do this. On the other hand, if you've had too much of either one, you're likely to deal with discomfort.

I always like to have my headphones on while I run. A nice soundtrack can give me an instant burst of energy.

Aside from the fact that good music is always a natural stimulant, it can also serve as an adequate means of taking your mind away from the task at hand. The less focused you are on the arduous task of running, the easier a time you'll have.

As far as time of day is concerned, everyone will have a different preference here. Still, you should do what feels best.

Some people are morning people and need to get the task out of the way when the day begins. There are just as many night owls who love nothing more than a run at the end of the day.

Good luck with these tips, and have a great run.
